Motorola has unveiled the Motorola Signature 27 at the Qualcomm Snapdragon Summit, introducing its next premium smartphone with Qualcomm’s latest flagship silicon, a 200MP periscope telephoto camera and audio tuned in partnership with Bang & Olufsen.
The Signature 27 is positioned as Motorola’s most advanced smartphone yet. Alongside the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 platform, the phone brings AI-powered imaging features, a new thermal system, premium materials and seven years of software support. Motorola says the device will launch globally later this year, with more availability details expected closer to release.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 powers the Signature 27
The biggest performance upgrade is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6.
Motorola is among the first manufacturers to officially introduce a smartphone around the new platform, making the Signature 27 an early showcase for Qualcomm’s latest flagship technology. The chipset is designed around demanding workloads including gaming, generative AI and computational photography.
Motorola is pairing the processor with a new cooling architecture called ArcticMesh. The system combines diamond-infused thermal gel, liquid metal, copper mesh and a redesigned 3D vapour chamber.
According to Motorola, the new vapour chamber is 40 percent larger than the previous design. The objective is straightforward: move heat away from the processor more effectively during extended gaming, AI processing and other intensive workloads.

200MP periscope telephoto camera takes centre stage
The 200MP periscope telephoto camera is arguably the Signature 27’s most eye-catching hardware feature.
Motorola says the high-resolution telephoto sensor is designed to preserve detail when photographing distant subjects. The company is also using AI processing to extend the camera’s reach.
Its Super Zoom Pro system can reach up to 100x zoom using generative AI. While 100x modes rely heavily on computational processing rather than purely optical magnification, the combination of a high-resolution telephoto sensor and AI processing gives Motorola more image data to work with at longer distances.
The camera system is joined by a 50MP Sony LYTIA primary camera. Motorola’s Video Enhancement Engine uses AI to analyse scenes while recording and adjust elements such as colour, exposure, highlights and shadows.
The company has also highlighted Dolby Vision video capture as part of the Signature 27’s multimedia capabilities.
Bang & Olufsen brings premium audio
Motorola is also making audio a central part of the Signature 27 experience.
The phone is the first Motorola smartphone to feature sound by Bang & Olufsen, following a new partnership between the two companies. Motorola describes the collaboration as part of its effort to create a more premium multimedia experience.
The partnership is notable because Bang & Olufsen is better known for premium headphones, speakers and home audio equipment than smartphone collaborations.
Motorola has not yet disclosed every technical detail of the audio system, so the real-world difference will depend on speaker tuning and how the company implements the B&O collaboration in the final retail device.
Gemini AI gets deeper integration
AI is another major component of the Signature 27.
Motorola is integrating Google Gemini as a personal AI assistant, with the company highlighting capabilities that go beyond conventional question-and-answer interactions. Gemini can help with tasks such as planning activities, finding event tickets and making reservations.
The phone also introduces creative AI features.
Gemini Omni can turn prompts, photographs or existing videos into more polished video content, while Gemini Lyria is designed to help users generate original music.
These features fit into Motorola’s broader strategy of making generative AI part of everyday smartphone use rather than restricting it to a standalone assistant.
Premium design with two finishes
The Signature 27 continues Motorola’s move toward a more distinctive premium design language.
The phone uses flowing contours with aerospace-grade aluminium and glass-ceramic materials. Motorola has announced two finishes for the global model: PANTONE Coal Smoke with a Tactical Weave finish and PANTONE Capulet Green with a brushed textile-inspired texture.
The large rear camera module gives the phone a distinctive visual identity, while the textured finishes are intended to differentiate it from the increasingly similar glass slabs found across the flagship smartphone market.
Seven years of software support
Long-term software support is another significant change for Motorola.
The company says the Signature 27 will receive seven OS updates and up to seven years of security updates. The support period begins from the phone’s global launch date.
That commitment puts Motorola closer to the longest software-support periods offered by major Android smartphone manufacturers.
