OnePlus has officially confirmed that its next flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 16, will launch in China on October 12, 2026. The company has also revealed more details about its gaming-focused hardware, including a new triple-chip architecture designed to deliver high-frame-rate gaming at up to 185fps on supported titles.
The announcement was made at the OnePlus Game Conference on September 28, where the company highlighted gaming performance as one of the key areas of the upcoming flagship.
OnePlus 16 Targets 185fps Gaming
The OnePlus 16 will feature a new gaming architecture developed by OnePlus that combines multiple dedicated processing components with the main Snapdragon platform.
The company says the system can enable gaming at up to 185 frames per second, going beyond the 165Hz refresh rate that OnePlus has already introduced with its flagship smartphones.
OnePlus previously revealed that the OnePlus 16 will feature a 165Hz display, providing a high-refresh-rate experience across supported scenarios. The company is now extending that focus toward even higher gaming frame rates.
The 185fps figure should not be interpreted as a universal frame rate for every game. Actual performance will depend on game support, software optimization and other factors.

New Triple-Chip Gaming Architecture
OnePlus is placing significant emphasis on dedicated gaming hardware in the OnePlus 16.
The company has described its approach as a combination of multiple gaming technologies designed to improve frame rates, touch response, networking and sustained performance.
OnePlus’ gaming technology platform includes a dedicated Touch Response Chip, which handles touch processing separately from the main processor. The company’s existing gaming architecture supports a 330Hz touch sampling rate and up to 3200Hz instantaneous sampling in supported scenarios.
A dedicated Wi-Fi gaming chip is also designed to improve connection stability and prioritise gaming traffic, while the company’s gaming core handles performance optimisation.
For the OnePlus 16, these technologies are being developed further as part of the company’s push toward high-refresh-rate mobile gaming.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Series Chip
OnePlus has already confirmed that the OnePlus 16 will use Qualcomm’s latest flagship Snapdragon platform. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 series is built using a 2nm process and introduces Qualcomm’s latest Oryon CPU architecture.
The combination of Qualcomm’s new processor and OnePlus’ dedicated gaming hardware is expected to make the OnePlus 16 one of the company’s most performance-focused smartphones.
The company has not yet disclosed every specification of the Chinese model, but previous reports have pointed to a large battery, high-refresh-rate display and significant camera upgrades.
165Hz Display and Gaming Mode
The OnePlus 16 has been confirmed to support a 165Hz refresh rate, continuing OnePlus’ focus on ultra-high-refresh-rate smartphone displays.
Reports have suggested that the display could be capable of reaching 185Hz in a dedicated gaming mode. This would allow supported games to take advantage of the additional frame-rate headroom.
A higher refresh rate can make fast-moving content appear smoother, while faster touch response can potentially improve control in competitive games.
OnePlus 16 Design and Other Expected Features
OnePlus has already shown the design of the upcoming flagship. The phone is expected to retain a flat display with slim bezels and a square rear camera module.
The company has also revealed three colour options, including Tomorrow’s Star, Martian Masterpiece and Dark Forest. The special Tomorrow’s Star version features integrated lighting elements on the rear panel.
Previous leaks have pointed to a 9,000mAh battery, a 200-megapixel primary camera and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera. These specifications should still be treated cautiously until OnePlus officially confirms them.
OnePlus 16 Launch Date in China
The OnePlus 16 will officially launch in China on October 12, 2026.
The company is expected to reveal the complete specifications, pricing, configurations and availability details at the launch event.
OnePlus has not yet confirmed a global release schedule for the OnePlus 16. Reports have also suggested that the company’s international product strategy could differ from previous generations, so buyers outside China will need to wait for official regional announcements.
With its 165Hz display, new gaming architecture, Snapdragon flagship chipset and claimed 185fps gaming capability, the OnePlus 16 is shaping up as a major performance-focused smartphone for the second half of 2026.
