HP ZBook Ultra G3a Launched in India With Ryzen AI Max+ PRO, Up to 192GB Memory and 16-Inch OLED Display
HP has launched the ZBook Ultra G3a 16-inch mobile workstation in India, targeting professionals who need high-performance computing and local AI capabilities in a portable form factor. Powered by AMD Ryzen AI Max+ PRO processors, the new workstation is designed for AI developers, engineers, designers and content creators working with demanding applications and large AI models.
The HP ZBook Ultra G3a combines a 16-inch display, integrated AMD Radeon graphics, a large unified memory configuration and enterprise security features. HP says the workstation can run large language models (LLMs) locally, reducing dependence on cloud computing for supported workloads.
Despite its workstation-class ambitions, the laptop weighs approximately 1.9kg and measures 17.9mm thick. It also packs a 96Wh battery, with HP claiming up to 14 hours of use on a single charge
HP ZBook Ultra G3a Price in India and Availability
The HP ZBook Ultra G3a 16-inch is priced at ₹2,89,990, excluding taxes, in India. It is available through HP’s commercial channel partners, making it primarily a business-focused workstation rather than a mainstream consumer laptop.
The workstation is offered in an Eclipse Gray aluminium finish. Buyers should check with authorised commercial partners for the exact processor, memory, display, connectivity and charging configurations available with their purchase.
HP’s pricing announcement should also be considered alongside the machine’s configurable hardware. The maximum specifications advertised by the company do not necessarily apply to every configuration offered at the starting price.

AMD Ryzen AI Max+ PRO Processors Power the Workstation
The ZBook Ultra G3a can be configured with processors from AMD’s Ryzen AI Max+ PRO family, including the Ryzen AI Max PRO 485 and Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495.
The top-end configuration is designed to handle demanding professional workloads involving AI development, engineering, design and content production. The processor combines CPU, integrated graphics and AI acceleration in a single platform.
HP says the workstation can be configured with up to 192GB of unified memory, including up to 160GB available as graphics memory. It also features an NPU capable of delivering up to 55 TOPS of AI performance.
The large memory capacity is particularly relevant for AI developers working with large models, because model execution can require substantial memory for parameters, intermediate computations and supporting applications.
HP claims that the highest configuration can run language models containing up to 300 billion parameters locally. Actual performance will depend on the model, quantisation, software framework and workload, so this should not be interpreted as a guarantee that every model of that size will run at full precision or at high speed.
Local AI Capabilities Reduce Cloud Dependence
One of the main selling points of the ZBook Ultra G3a is its ability to support AI workloads directly on the device.
Local processing can be useful for developers experimenting with models, building AI agents or analysing sensitive information. Depending on the workload, running AI locally may reduce cloud inference costs, improve response times and give organisations more control over where their data is processed.
The workstation is also designed to run AI applications alongside conventional professional software. This could benefit users who need to work with large engineering projects, visualisation tools or design applications while experimenting with AI-assisted workflows.
HP is positioning the laptop as a mobile workstation for professionals who need local computing power without moving to a desktop workstation or relying entirely on remote infrastructure.
However, local AI performance will vary considerably according to model size, memory allocation, software optimisation and thermal conditions.
16-Inch OLED Display With Up to 120Hz Refresh Rate
The HP ZBook Ultra G3a features a 16-inch display, with a 2.8K OLED option offering a refresh rate of up to 120Hz.
The high-resolution OLED panel is intended for professionals who work with visual content, including designers, video editors and other creative users. OLED technology can deliver deep blacks and high contrast, while the higher refresh rate can make scrolling, animations and supported creative applications feel smoother.
Display configurations may vary, however. HP’s specifications also list a WUXGA IPS anti-glare panel with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,200 pixels and 400-nit brightness for the E64YBAW configuration.
This distinction is important for buyers: the 2.8K OLED display and the WUXGA IPS configuration are not interchangeable specifications. Customers should confirm the exact panel included in the workstation they intend to purchase.
Thermal Design Supports Up to 100W Performance
To accommodate its powerful processor and graphics capabilities, HP has redesigned the workstation’s thermal system.
The company says the new design enables up to 100W of performance and provides up to 81.8% higher thermal design power compared with the previous ZBook Ultra G1a, which had a maximum TDP of 55W.
The higher power envelope is intended to help the workstation sustain demanding workloads for longer periods. This is particularly important for tasks such as AI inference, compiling code, engineering simulations and rendering.
Actual performance will still depend on the chosen configuration, workload and operating conditions. A laptop’s maximum power figure alone does not determine how quickly it will complete every task.
Battery Life, Charging and Portability
The ZBook Ultra G3a includes a 96Wh battery, with HP claiming up to 14 hours of battery life. The result will vary depending on screen settings, workload, wireless connectivity and the processor configuration.
Charging options include 140W and 180W GaN USB-C power adapters, depending on the selected configuration. HP also claims that the battery can reach approximately 50% charge in 30 minutes under supported fast-charging conditions.
At around 1.9kg and 17.9mm thick, the workstation is relatively portable for a device aimed at professional computing. It is intended for users who need workstation capabilities across offices, studios, project sites and other locations.
Connectivity, Security and Serviceability
HP has equipped the ZBook Ultra G3a with modern connectivity options, including Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0 and optional secure 5G connectivity.
The available ports include Thunderbolt 4 USB-C, USB-C, USB-A, HDMI 2.1, an SD card reader and a 3.5mm audio jack. Port availability can vary by configuration, so buyers should verify the specification sheet for their selected model.
The laptop also includes HP Wolf Security for PC protection and resilience. A 5-megapixel infrared camera supports compatible biometric authentication, while the spill-resistant backlit keyboard is designed for professional use.
Another practical feature is its IT-replaceable keyboard. This can simplify maintenance for organisations managing fleets of workstations and may help extend the laptop’s service life.
Who Should Consider the HP ZBook Ultra G3a?
The HP ZBook Ultra G3a is designed for a specialised audience rather than everyday laptop users. AI developers, engineers, designers and technical professionals may benefit from its high memory capacity, integrated graphics and ability to run supported AI models locally.
Its main advantage is the combination of workstation-oriented computing and portability. Users who need large local AI workloads may find the high-memory configuration particularly useful, while professionals focused on standard office tasks may not need its expensive hardware.
At ₹2,89,990 excluding taxes, the ZBook Ultra G3a is a significant investment. Buyers should carefully compare the configuration they need against the total cost, especially if their workloads can be handled by a more affordable laptop or a cloud-based AI service.
Overall, the HP ZBook Ultra G3a brings powerful local AI computing to a relatively thin mobile workstation. Its configurable memory, Ryzen AI Max+ PRO processors and enterprise features make it a notable option for professionals looking to run more demanding AI and creative workloads on the move.
