Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra, Tab S12+ Launched

Samsung has officially expanded its flagship tablet lineup with the new Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S12+. Announced on September 30, the new tablets focus on high-end performance, large AMOLED displays, Galaxy AI features, S Pen productivity and a slim design.

Both models are powered by MediaTek’s new Dimensity 9500 chipset and run Android 17 with One UI 9. Samsung has also added a redesigned cooling system, improved AI experiences and support for professional creative applications, including Adobe Photoshop.

The Galaxy Tab S12 series will go on sale in the US from October 7, with the Tab S12 Ultra starting at $1,399.99 and the Tab S12+ starting at $1,199.99. Samsung India has product pages for both tablets, but as of now they are marked “Not for sale,” so an official India price and sales date have not been confirmed.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 Series: Price and Availability

The Galaxy Tab S12 lineup currently consists of two models: the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S12+.

ModelStarting PriceAvailability
Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra$1,399.99October 7, US
Galaxy Tab S12+$1,199.99October 7, US

Both tablets will be available in Gray and Silver colour options. Samsung has not yet announced official India pricing or availability, although the two devices already appear on Samsung India’s website.

Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra Gets a 14.6-inch AMOLED Display

The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra remains the larger and more feature-packed model. It comes with a 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display offering a 2960 × 1848 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.

Samsung claims the panel can reach up to 1,600 nits peak brightness, while its Seamless Vision Booster adjusts brightness and contrast depending on the surrounding lighting. That should make the massive display more practical for outdoor use as well as indoor creative work.

The Ultra is also remarkably thin at just 5.1mm and weighs around 692 grams for the Wi-Fi version. Despite that slim profile, Samsung has fitted an 11,600mAh battery and rates it for up to 23 hours of video playback.

Galaxy Tab S12+ Focuses on Portability

The Galaxy Tab S12+ takes a slightly more compact approach with a 12.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display. It has a 2800 × 1752 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate and up to 1,600 nits peak brightness.

At 5.3mm thick and approximately 553 grams, the S12+ is considerably easier to carry than the Ultra while retaining the same flagship processor.

It packs a 10,600mAh battery and supports up to 21 hours of video playback, according to Samsung.

MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Powers Both Tablets

One of the biggest changes this generation is the move to the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 processor.

Samsung says the new chip, combined with an upgraded 3D Vapor Chamber, is designed to maintain performance during demanding workloads such as video editing, gaming, graphics-heavy applications and AI processing.

Samsung’s own comparison figures indicate that the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra delivers a 61% increase in NPU performance, 19% higher CPU performance and 17% higher GPU performance compared with the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra.

The Ultra comes with up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage, while the S12+ goes up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. Both models also support microSD cards up to 2TB.

S Pen Comes in the Box

Samsung continues to position its premium tablets as productivity and creative machines rather than simply large-screen entertainment devices.

Both Galaxy Tab S12 models include an S Pen in the box. The stylus is designed for note-taking, drawing, document annotation and photo editing, with Samsung also integrating new AI-powered creative tools.

The company has introduced Creative Studio, which can combine S Pen sketches, images and text prompts to create or refine artwork.

Samsung DeX is also available, providing a desktop-style interface for multitasking and working with multiple applications.

Adobe Photoshop Comes to Galaxy Tab

One of the more notable software additions is Adobe Photoshop, which Samsung says is arriving on an Android tablet for the first time with the Galaxy Tab S12 series.

The application has been optimised for the larger tablet display and S Pen, giving users tools for image editing and creative work without having to move to a PC for every task.

Samsung is also bundling several productivity and creative applications with the tablets, including Notability, Goodnotes, LumaFusion, Clip Studio Paint and Notion, although availability and trial periods can vary by market.

Galaxy AI Gets a Bigger Role

Galaxy AI is another major part of the Galaxy Tab S12 experience.

Features include Note Assist, which can summarise lengthy notes, and Now Nudge, which can recognise information on screen and suggest relevant actions in Multi Window.

Samsung has also added AI agents that can be accessed through the tablet or compatible keyboard accessories. Users can interact with assistants including Bixby, Gemini and Perplexity, depending on availability and configuration.

The tablets also support Samsung’s newer AI-powered creative and productivity features designed to reduce the number of steps required for common tasks.

IP68 Rating and Four-Speaker Audio

Despite their slim designs, both Galaxy Tab S12 models carry an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.

The tablets also feature four-speaker audio, with Samsung highlighting upgraded spatial sound on the Ultra model. This makes the large-screen tablets better suited to movies, music, gaming and video calls without relying on external speakers.

Seven Years of Software Support

Samsung is also promising long-term software support for the Galaxy Tab S12 lineup.

The company says the tablets will receive up to seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates. This gives the devices a longer software lifespan and could be particularly relevant for buyers who plan to keep a premium tablet for several years.

What About the Galaxy Tab S12 Price in India?

For Indian buyers, the important detail is that Samsung has not yet announced the official India price or retail availability for the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S12+.

Samsung India’s website currently lists both tablets, but the product pages are marked “Not for sale.” Therefore, the US launch prices should not be treated as confirmed Indian prices.

Samsung has confirmed US availability from October 7, while the broader launch rollout covers multiple markets. More information about India availability is expected separately.

Final Take

The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S12+ bring a familiar premium tablet formula with a new Dimensity 9500 platform, brighter 120Hz AMOLED displays, Galaxy AI features, S Pen support and long-term software support.

The Ultra stands out with its huge 14.6-inch display, 11,600mAh battery, Wi-Fi 7 and up to 1TB storage, while the S12+ offers a more compact 12.6-inch design without giving up the flagship processor.

For Indian buyers, however, the biggest missing piece is still the official India price and sales date. Until Samsung announces those details, the US pricing provides only a reference point rather than a confirmed Indian launch price.
