Vivo OriginOS 7 India Rollout: Eligible Devices, New Features and Update Timeline

vivo has officially introduced OriginOS 7 in India, bringing a major software refresh to compatible vivo smartphones. Based on Android 17, the new operating system focuses on a smoother interface, smarter AI features, better multitasking, stronger security, improved battery management and deeper connectivity between devices.

While vivo has confirmed that OriginOS 7 will arrive on select smartphones in India, the company says the supported models and rollout schedule will be announced separately. This means users should be cautious about treating circulating device lists or unofficial timelines as final.

Still, OriginOS 7 is shaping up to be one of vivo’s biggest software updates yet. From redesigned animations and personalization tools to the Jovi AI assistant and new cross-device features, the update is aimed at making everyday smartphone use faster and more intelligent.

What Is OriginOS 7?

OriginOS 7 is vivo’s latest Android-based operating system. The update introduces changes across almost every major part of the phone experience, including the user interface, performance, AI, productivity, connectivity, security and gaming.

One of the most noticeable changes is the new animation system. vivo has introduced Fluid Motion and Spring Animation, which are designed to make interactions feel more responsive when users swipe, open applications or move between different sections of the interface.

Fluid Motion is used across more than 200 interaction scenarios, while Spring Animation reacts to the speed and direction of a user’s input. vivo has also added Seamless Interaction to improve transitions when moving between horizontal and vertical scrolling.

The result is intended to be a more natural and fluid interface rather than simply a visual redesign.

OriginOS 7 India Rollout: What We Know

For Indian users, the biggest question is which vivo smartphones will receive the update and when.

vivo has confirmed that OriginOS 7 will be made available for select vivo smartphones in India, but the company has not yet provided a final public device-by-device schedule in its announcement.

The situation is different from some other markets, where vivo has already published rollout information. The company’s official OriginOS 7 information shows a staged update strategy across multiple vivo and iQOO models, although regional availability can differ significantly.

Therefore, owners of vivo phones should wait for the official India-specific list before assuming that their particular model is guaranteed to receive OriginOS 7.

Jovi AI Brings Smarter Features

Artificial intelligence is one of the biggest themes of OriginOS 7.

vivo’s Jovi AI assistant is designed to do more than answer basic questions. On supported devices, it can search for information, process multiple files, summarize content and perform certain tasks across connected devices.

Jovi can also work with compatible PCs, allowing users to issue commands from their smartphone for supported tasks on a connected computer.

Another interesting capability is scheduled assistance. Jovi can gather followed news, prepare reports and save the results to Notes, giving the assistant a more proactive role in everyday productivity.

However, vivo notes that AI functionality can vary depending on the device, region, language and other factors.

AI Features Go Beyond Jovi

OriginOS 7 includes several additional AI-powered tools.

Snap Note can convert content such as whiteboards, handwritten notes, slides and mind maps into editable rich-text documents. It can also organize multiple captured pages into a sequence.

The AI Recorder is designed for meetings and conversations. It can recognize speakers, refine transcripts, identify highlights and create different types of summaries. Its AI Insights feature can also identify topics, conclusions and potential risks or collaboration issues.

vivo has also added Smart Call Assistant, which can answer calls and convert conversations into text. Call Overview can then generate an AI summary that appears in the call log.

For people who frequently work with documents, AI Reader Mode can reformat PDF text to make it easier to read on a smartphone screen.

There’s also AI Search, which lets users search files and notes using descriptions instead of remembering exact file names.

Snap & Go Makes Travel Information Easier to Use

One of the more practical additions is Snap & Go.

The feature can recognize information from screenshots containing flight, train, bus or event tickets. On supported devices, it can then suggest adding the relevant information to Google Calendar through Origin Island.

This could be useful for people who regularly save boarding passes, event tickets or travel confirmations as screenshots.

The feature is part of vivo’s broader effort to make information stored on a smartphone more actionable instead of leaving it buried inside image galleries.

OriginOS 7 Gets a Major Visual Refresh

OriginOS 7 also brings several visual customization features.

Dynamic Glow uses lighting effects to respond to user interactions, while Dynamic Translucent Material changes the appearance of interface elements based on the background.

Users can choose between different visual styles, including Realistic, Natural and Soft options.

The Immersive Home feature can also adjust the appearance of the home screen depending on the time of day, creating different visual treatments for daytime and nighttime.

vivo has added more customization through features such as Wiggle Theme, AOD Live Updates, Pet Pals Theme, Glint Theme and StickIt.

AOD Live Updates can display information such as delivery and flight updates directly on the always-on display, while supported Pet Pals themes add interactive elements to the interface.

Better Performance and Multitasking

Performance improvements are another major part of OriginOS 7.

The new Origin Workbench supports multiple windows and task switching, with cross-app drag-and-drop available in compatible scenarios. However, vivo says this feature is limited to certain models with at least 12GB of RAM.

vivo has also introduced a new memory management strategy designed to improve long-term performance.

According to the company, app cold-start times can be up to 10% shorter, while page switching can be up to 11% faster. Memory reclamation is claimed to be up to 60% faster, while a new rendering architecture can improve rendering efficiency by up to 14.4%.

These figures are vivo’s own measurements and should not be interpreted as guaranteed improvements on every supported phone.

New Connectivity Features

OriginOS 7 is also designed to work more closely with other devices.

The Office Kit supports features such as Camera Sharing, Task Handoff, notes and file transfers. On compatible setups, a vivo smartphone can act as a camera for video calls on a compatible MacBook.

The system also introduces deeper integration with parts of the Apple ecosystem. Supported Apple Watches can display notifications and messages, while AirPods battery and connection information can appear through Origin Island.

vivo also says iCloud for web can be accessed through File Manager, allowing users to view, upload and download files using an Apple Account.

Another feature called Shake & Share enables supported devices to transfer high-resolution, lossless photos without using mobile data.

Battery and Gaming Improvements

OriginOS 7 doesn’t only focus on appearance and AI. vivo has also worked on power efficiency.

The BlueVolt Smart Engine, developed with Microsoft for meeting scenarios, is designed to reduce power consumption during high-resolution Microsoft Teams video calls. vivo says it can reduce consumption by up to 25% in those scenarios.

Other battery-related improvements include Extended Connected Standby, Heterogeneous Computing and Bypass Charging 3.0.

Bypass Charging 3.0 can adjust charging power and switch to trickle charging when battery temperatures increase. vivo says this can help extend battery lifespan.

Gamers also get an updated Ultra Game Mode, which brings performance, controls, audio and network settings together.

OriginOS 7 additionally introduces Glare Protection and 4D Game Vibration for supported games.

Security Gets More Attention

Security is another major focus of the new software.

vivo has introduced Security Shield, which is designed to protect different parts of the device, including applications, communications, networks and financial information.

The system includes safeguards against malicious apps, unsafe links, spam calls and potentially risky USB operations.

Jovi also has its own security controls. When the AI assistant performs certain actions through a connected PC, users can review important actions and are required to confirm sensitive operations.

OriginOS 7 can also monitor application permission activity and suggest changes when necessary.

Which vivo Phones Will Get OriginOS 7?

At this stage, there is an important distinction between expected eligibility and officially confirmed India availability.

vivo has confirmed that OriginOS 7 will come to select smartphones in India, but its India announcement does not yet provide the complete final device list.

Several current vivo and iQOO models are expected to be part of the broader OriginOS 7 ecosystem based on vivo’s rollout information and regional announcements. However, Indian users should wait for vivo’s official India schedule because device availability can vary by market.

The company is expected to provide more specific information as the rollout progresses.

When Will OriginOS 7 Arrive in India?

The OriginOS 7 India rollout will happen in stages rather than reaching every supported phone simultaneously.

The first devices are likely to receive the update before it expands to additional models. Preview programmes for the vivo X300 Pro and iQOO 15 have already been offered to selected users in India, giving an early indication of vivo’s approach to testing the new software before wider availability.

Users should therefore check Settings > System Update on their phones once their model becomes eligible.

Final Thoughts

OriginOS 7 represents a significant step forward for vivo’s software experience.

Rather than focusing solely on a redesigned interface, vivo has combined smoother animations with AI tools, productivity features, cross-device connectivity, battery improvements, security upgrades and gaming enhancements.

The biggest question for Indian users is still the rollout schedule. vivo has confirmed that OriginOS 7 is coming to select smartphones in India, but the company has said that supported models and the detailed rollout plan will be announced separately.

For now, owners of recent vivo smartphones should keep an eye on official software-update notifications. As the India rollout expands, vivo is expected to reveal more information about exactly which devices will receive OriginOS 7 and when.
