Amazon Launches New Fire TV Stick 4K With Faster Performance and Redesigned Remote
Amazon has launched a new Fire TV Stick 4K, bringing faster performance, a slimmer design and a redesigned remote control to its streaming lineup. The new model is also the first 4K Fire TV Stick from Amazon to support Direct Power, allowing users to power the device directly through a compatible TV’s USB port.
The company says the new Fire TV Stick 4K can get users from powering on to streaming content nearly 20–40% faster than a similarly priced 4K streaming stick from another leading brand. Amazon has also simplified its Fire TV Stick range, making the new model the standard option between the entry-level Fire TV Stick HD and premium Fire TV Stick 4K Max.
New Fire TV Stick 4K Gets Faster
The new Fire TV Stick 4K is designed to make everyday streaming more responsive. Amazon claims apps launch more than 35% faster, while content can start playing nearly 20% faster compared with the company’s testing benchmark.
Amazon also compared the new stick with built-in software on three popular 4K smart TVs. According to the company’s testing, the Fire TV Stick 4K started playing content faster than all three televisions.
The device features a quad-core 1.7GHz processor and 8GB of internal storage. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3 and Bluetooth Low Energy.

Slimmer Design and Direct USB Power
The Fire TV Stick 4K follows the slimmer design introduced with Amazon’s Fire TV Stick HD earlier this year.
One of the most practical changes is Direct Power. Instead of requiring a separate power adapter, the stick can draw power from a compatible TV’s USB port using the included cable.
That makes installation simpler and also makes the device easier to carry when travelling. Users only need a compatible TV with HDMI, an available USB power source and an internet connection.
The stick supports up to 4K resolution at 60fps, along with HDR10, HDR10+, HLG, H.265, H.264, VP9 and AV1 formats.
Fire TV Stick 4K Runs on Vega OS
Amazon is continuing its transition to Vega OS with the new Fire TV Stick 4K.
The device comes with Amazon’s latest Fire TV experience and Alexa+ built in. Amazon says the Vega-based app ecosystem has expanded by more than 2,000 apps since the company’s first Vega OS device launched last year.
Popular streaming services available on Fire TV include Netflix, Disney+, YouTube, Prime Video, HBO Max, Peacock, Tubi and Pluto, although app availability can vary by region.
Alexa can also be used to search for content, control playback and operate compatible smart-home devices using voice commands.
Amazon Redesigns the Fire TV Remote

The new Fire TV Stick 4K comes with a completely redesigned Fire TV Remote.
Amazon says the remote was developed around tactile feedback, allowing users to identify important controls without looking down. The remote uses an asymmetric design with a flat top and curved, weighted bottom, making it easier to determine which way to hold it.
The Home button now has a distinct metal surface, while several other buttons have different shapes or indentations to make them easier to locate by touch.
Another useful addition is a customisable star button. Users can assign it to launch a favourite application or perform actions such as toggling closed captions or Screen Magnifier.
The remote also includes dedicated power, volume and mute controls for compatible TVs, soundbars and receivers.
Fire TV Remote Plus Coming in 2027
Amazon has also announced a more premium version called the Fire TV Remote Plus.
Scheduled for early 2027, the new remote will feature an aluminium body, backlit buttons and a built-in Find My Remote function.
With the feature, users will be able to ask Alexa to find the remote. The remote will then play a sound to help locate it.
Amazon says the Remote Plus will replace the current Alexa Voice Remote Pro.
Amazon Simplifies Its Fire TV Lineup
With the launch of the new model, Amazon is simplifying its core streaming-stick range.
The lineup now includes:
- Fire TV Stick HD — entry-level option for everyday streaming
- Fire TV Stick 4K — standard 4K model focused on speed and value
- Fire TV Stick 4K Max — premium stick with more storage, higher performance and features such as Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos
Amazon will also continue offering the Fire TV Cube for users looking for a more powerful Fire TV experience with hands-free Alexa+ controls.

What Makes the New Fire TV Stick 4K Different?
The new Fire TV Stick 4K is not simply a resolution upgrade. Amazon is combining faster performance with a more convenient physical design and a substantially redesigned remote.
The Direct Power feature could be especially useful for people who want a cleaner setup behind their television or frequently carry a streaming stick between different TVs.
The redesigned remote is another notable improvement. Rather than adding a long list of new buttons, Amazon has focused on making frequently used controls easier to identify by touch.
Meanwhile, Vega OS and Alexa+ show that Amazon is continuing to build its own software ecosystem around Fire TV hardware.
Final Take
The new Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K brings together faster performance, 4K streaming, Wi-Fi 6 and a slimmer design while making setup simpler with direct USB power.
The redesigned remote may ultimately be one of the most noticeable changes for everyday users, with tactile controls, a customisable shortcut button and a shape designed to be easier to hold.
At $59.99, the new Fire TV Stick 4K sits between Amazon’s HD and 4K Max models, giving the company a clearer three-tier streaming lineup. For Indian consumers, however, the local price and availability are still waiting for official confirmation.
